There are a lot of male doctors who behave in a superior manner with her because as a woman she needs to take more offs than one of them especially because of her three children. She never tried to be obvious but then she says that this disdainful attitude was always present fm her superiors.

In a national survey of female consumers by a business magazine, 46 percent said they preferred a female OB GYN, while 40 percent had no preference. A female doctor was not needed back then by groups. In the beginning she was just about the only female OB GYN in the medical group she worked for however later she moved to a multispecialty HMO where now she has a lot of other female OB GYNs. The male doctors thought that she was being too sensitive with her patients.
She didn’t shave women before labor, for example, a once common practice now seen as unnecessary. As women patients began taking more control over their own health decisions, they began to see the advantage of having a physician with first hand knowledge of the way the female body works. Babies were coming into her life as well as her patient’s life 15 years ago. Now the entire are going through menopause together.
